I love, love, love granola.   I have loved it since before it was cool to love granola.   I love it for breakfast, as a snack, on yogurt, on ice cream, wherever.   But what I haven’t loved over the years, is how some have tainted it’s precious reputation with a ton of ingredients that just don’t need to be there, namely extra sugar.   Granola can be pure and simple, just the way I like it.  And, when I say simple, I mean it.   Every thing you need for the best homemade granola ever is right here.  Seriously, this is so easy to make even if you don’t cook or like to cook.

4 cups whole oats (not only good for you, but cheap!)

1 and 1/2 cup chopped nuts of your choice (I really like almonds and pecans)

1 cup pure maple syrup

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt (I use kosher)

1 and 1/2 cup raisins

Granola ready to go in the oven resized

Ready to go in the oven…..

Mix everything but the raisins together in a bowl.  Stir until everything is coated and then toss it on a baking sheet (I spray mine with cooking spray).  Bake in a 300 degree oven for 20 minutes.  Stir in the raisins and let cool.  That is it!  So easy and so good.  Sweet but not over done.  Perfect.
