I love, love, love granola.   I have loved it since before it was cool to love granola.   I love it for breakfast, as a snack, on yogurt, on ice cream, wherever.   Over the years its precious reputation has gotten tainted because of a lot of ingredients that just don’t need to be there, namely extra sugar.   I mean some “granola” bars are not any better than candy bars.  This is true, in case you are in shock.  But granola can be pure, simple, nutritious AND taste good.

I will apologize because before we moved over to this new site, I was using my awesome technological skills and I accidentally posted this recipe before it was actually ready to go out.  Have you ever done any thing like that?  Maybe, I don’t know, hit reply to all, when you meant to reply to just one?  Anyways, this recipe is TOO good not to share again.  I mean it.

I have it on hand all the time.

ALL the time.  If I am craving something sweet (mainly every day), I’ll have this instead.

This is how good it is.  I have actually convinced my children to eat this instead of Lucky Charms.  No lie.  Now, let’s not get crazy here.  I don’t give them the choice, but there was a time when the LC’s were in the house and they knew it.  But I told them I made them their very own special cereal.  Ever since, they eat it up every time.

Again, this takes no time to make.  Not to sound sexist, but even if you are the guy that is always in charge of chips at the potluck, you can make this and not be super irritated by the end.  I promise.

Everything you need to make the best granola ever is right here.  Seriously, this is so easy to make even if you don’t cook or don’t like to cook.

Granola ingredients

4 cups whole oats (not only good for you, but cheap!)

1 and 1/2 cup chopped nuts of your choice (I really like almonds and pecans)

1 cup pure maple syrup

1 tablespoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt (I use kosher)

1 and 1/2 cup raisins

Mix everything but the raisins together in a bowl.  Stir until everything is coated and then toss it on a baking sheet (I spray mine with cooking spray).

Homemade all natural granola

I added chia seeds to this batch…

Bake in a 300 degree oven for 20 minutes.  Stir in the raisins and let cool.  That is it!  This is so easy and so good.  Perfect.
